Interested in publishing your R-laden calculations to Tableau Server?
Of course you are.
First, you need to do some work on your server. If you forget to take care of the following steps, you’ll get this nasty warning message from Tableau Desktop when you publish:
“This worksheet contains R scripts, which cannot be viewed on the target platform until the administrator configures an Rserve connection.”
OK, that’s pretty clear. How do you configure it? Use help!
http://onlinehelp.tableausoftware.com/v8.1/server/en-us/help.htm#tabadmin.htm
After you set (at least) the first two options (generally all four so that evil people don’t beat up on your RServe service), you’ll be good to go.
Here I am using a mix of “baked-in” visual statistics goodness from Tableau (Polynomial Trend Lines w/ Confidence Bands) and R (An expression which changes the colors on outliers)….and I’m viewing it in Server.
