File this one under “No duh”, but perhaps I can save you 3 minutes and some pondering. I just upgraded a box to yummy yummy Office 2016 and got rid of 2013: Out with the old, in with the new.

Little problem afterwards – I found that all my Tableau workbooks with live connections to Excel stopped functioning. I got the classic “class not registered” error message. 

Silly me – I didn’t stop to think that removing Office 2013 also whacked the Office 2007 System Driver you grab from tableau.com/drivers.

Reinstalled that puppy and all was well. Life goes on.
